PNW SPRING HAS SPRUNG
Welcome to the SlowCult Blog. We had imagined our first blog post would be some sort of introduction or beginning point, but sometimes you’ve just got to start where you are. We still want to make posts about the beginnings of SlowCult and our personal origin stories, but that will come a bit later. Our blog begins at the point where so much begins every year… Spring! Last Wednesday was the Spring Equinox and we were so ready for it. The Daffodils and Hyacinth are blooming in the garden and the Lupines we planted last year are coming back to life. Our peas have just come up and many of the trees in Portland are beginning to leaf out and bloom. Last week we put our Canoe in the water for the first time this year and we’ve been spending more time outdoors and going on more hikes now that the days are getting longer and warmer. We absolutely love Spring in The Pacific Northwest!
Despite the cold and the dark, this winter was a pretty mild one in Portland. During the coldest days, Lexi spent her time indoors designing and creating the new handcrafted pillows that were recently added to the website and some other textile pieces that we’ll share soon. It also gave us time to dream up some new concepts and designs that are in the works, and also to plan out our garden for this year. We’ve been planting flowers (we both love doing floral design) and veggies for a few weeks now and are looking forward to the upcoming season. We’ve also just finished up two new batches of naturally dyed ribbon, in magical shades of both pink and gray that would be great for a curated wedding or bohemian event. We’ll be putting them up on the website soon, but there’s a sneak peak for you down below. In addition to the new ribbon and pillows, we’ve also got some commissioned pieces in the works and we’re gearing up for a summer filled with adventure, events, and inspiration.
